Joe Alcock MD is co-director of the University of New Mexico’s Wilderness International and Improvisational Medicine (WIIM) Program. He is director of the UNM School of Medicine Clerkship Travel and Emergency Medicine. Joe helped teach AWLS and WALS courses in 2006 and 2007 and lectured on diving emergencies at the 2006 EuSEM conference in Nice, France. Joe is co-owner of Mountain & Marine Medicine (MMM), LLC, which has hosted seven wilderness medicine conferences, including three international courses since 2005.

Darryl Macias MD is the director of the UNM Wilderness International and Improvisational Medicine (WIIM) Program. He has published, with Dr. Alcock as coauthor, the Development of a Wilderness and Travel Medicine Rotation in an Academic Setting in the journal Wilderness & Environmental Medicine. Darryl is candidate for the European Diploma of Mountain Medicine. He has an extensive climbing and mountaineering resume in South America, Europe, and Asia. He is actively engaged in international emergency medicine and has contributed to developing emergency medicine in Nepal, Mexico, Argentina, and other countries. He is co-owner of Mountain & Marine Medicine, and has lectured extensively on wilderness medicine topics.
Robert Quinn

Robert Quinn MD is an orthopaedic surgeon with extensive experience in orthopaedic trauma. He is the residency director for the UNM Department of Orthopedics. Bob is faculty for the UNM WIIM program and MMM high altitude courses. He is an avid mountaineer and an AWLS instructor. He is lead author with Darryl Macias on the journal article Management of Open Fractures published in the journal of Wilderness & Environmental Medicine.

Diane Rimple MD is the associate residency director at UNM Department of Emergency Medicine. Diane is director of the UNM School of Medicine Clerkship Disaster Medicine. She is active in disaster medicine, urban search and rescue and wilderness medicine. Diane is an accomplished climber and has successfully climbed Mt. Rainier among many other 14’ers. Diane has helped us with our two previous international high altitude courses and is faculty for the WIIM course.

Jason Williams BS EMT is a paramedic instructor at the University of New Mexico, Emergency Medical Services Academy. He has an extensive background in wilderness medicine and mountain rescue. He is the current president of Albuquerque Mountain Rescue. Jason is faculty for the UNM WIIM program and MMM high altitude courses. He is an avid rock and ice climber, and currently instructs rope rescue courses.
